After what began as a historically slow Hurricane season, a drastic reversal has had a major impact on the insurance market in Florida.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, Hurricane Ida in 2021 was the most expensive hurricane on record to impact Florida, at $36 Billion in insured losses. Reporting now indicates that 2022's Hurricane Ian may have caused between $42 and $258 Billion in property losses. As always we are monitoring named storms and exposures throughout the continental US. As now Hurricane Nicole makes landfall along the eastern coast of Florida we will be continuing to monitor the situation and the level of exposure to our clients.
